Paul remained standing after the final bell in their exhibition match wherein there were no judges but only stoppages with the referee’s discretion.
The fight was filled with smiles in the early rounds before Mayweather took the fight on his hands in the later rounds.
The unbeaten boxer was looking to finish Paul, but the latter was wise in melting away the clock by hugging the smaller Mayweather.
He was highly efficient in the match connecting 50 percent of his jabs compared to10 percent of Paul. He also landed 39% of his power punches, while Paul had 15% accuracy on it. Despite the discrepancy, Mayweather throws some respect to his opponent in the post-fight.
“He’s better than I thought he was,”Mayweather told of Paul.
Although the spectators may have felt differently about the fight, both entertainers were satisfied with it.
“I don’t want anyone to tell me anything is impossible,” Paul said after he shared the ring with what he called the best boxer in the world.
The fight was star-studded; former NBA players Paul Pierce and Matt Barnes were in attendance, and several Hollywood stars.
