The NBA is currently investigating the Los Angeles Clippers and its consultant Jerry West on the alleged verbal deal in helping the team bring Leonard in Los Angeles.
Johnny Wilkes filed the lawsuit to the Los Angeles County Superior Court after he claimed that West owed him $2.5 million to land the 2019 Finals MVP.
The Clippers released a statement regarding the issue.
“The lawsuit filed by Johnny Wilkes is replete with inaccuracies, and the allegations are baseless. The Clippers are fully cooperating with the NBA in its investigation, which is standard when these allegations are made. They are providing the NBA with evidence that the allegations are false,” the team said.
Wilkes added that he is the best friend of Leonard’s uncle Dennis Roberston whom he said will have a house in California if they make the deal happen.
However, all the allegations are based on the verbal agreement, according to Wilkes.
Leonard meanwhile denied that Wilkes was not a part of his decision making to transfer after his contract expired with the Toronto Raptors.
Currently, he is in his second year wearing the blue and white uniforms of LA.
